Arrived Hanoi

We left Hong Kong this lunch time and arrived Hanoi around 4.00 pm. The drive from Hanoi airport to the city was amazing. I have never seen so many motor bikes on the road. Cars and bikes are driven in a carzy way and all traffic lights are ignored completely. Crossing the road is a life and death risk. We ventured out to have dinner tonight and crossing the roads was quite a challenge.

The walk around the city was also quite interesting. Meals were being cooked in the street. Everyone is sitting on the pavement huddled around their food or tea and talking, with no intention of moving for the pedestrians !!! Everyone however seems a lot nicer than people in Hong King. They smile alot more and are very pleasant. Our dinner was exellant. We came across the restaurant as we were walking. George says it is the first nice dinner he has ghas so far (and very cheap). It is not surprising as he had a huge Snapper which was for two and had it all on his own. The exchange rate is 1 Sterling to 25,000 Dong.

We are going sightseeing tomorrow starting with the Hanoi moseleum which houses the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh
